How to clean Timberland boots
Timberland 6 Inch boots are made from nubuck, a soft leather that hates water and harsh scrubbing. These seven steps keep Wheat and Black pairs looking new. You'll need about 20 minutes, plus drying time.
- 01
Let them dry
Never clean wet boots. Let mud dry naturally, away from heaters or direct sun, which crack nubuck.
- 02
Brush off dirt
Use a soft suede or nubuck brush. Brush lightly in one direction to lift dust and dried mud.
- 03
Erase marks
Rub scuffs and stains gently with a suede eraser or a clean pencil eraser. Brush again afterwards.
- 04
Treat tough stains
Dab a little nubuck cleaner (or a 1:1 mix of white vinegar and water) on a cloth. Work in small circles, then blot with a dry cloth. Don't soak the leather.
- 05
Clean soles and laces
Scrub the rubber soles with warm soapy water and an old toothbrush. Hand-wash laces and let them air-dry.
- 06
Dry and stuff
Stuff the boots with newspaper to keep their shape and soak up moisture. Leave them to dry for 24 hours at room temperature.
- 07
Protect them
Once dry, spray a nubuck water and stain protector from about 15cm away. Re-spray every few weeks you wear them.
